This Privacy Policy explains how Mohalla ("we", "us", "our"), a hyperlocal community and rental application operated by StackGrowth, collects, uses, stores, and shares your information when you use the Mohalla mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. Mohalla is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older.

1. Who We Are

Mohalla is a hyperlocal community and zero-brokerage rental platform serving defined geographic zones. We connect neighbours within an area for community discussion, rental listings, local services, events, and related features. This policy applies to all users of the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Phone number — used to create and authenticate your account via a one-time password (OTP).
• Profile information — your name, username, profession, and other details you choose to add to your profile.
• Approximate location — your zone/area (for example, Greater Noida Central). We use approximate, zone-level location only; we do not collect precise GPS location.
• User-generated content — posts, direct messages, zone (community) chat messages, listings, events, and referrals you create within the App.
• Photos and images — images you upload (for example, profile pictures, listing photos, verification media).
• Device and usage data — app interactions and usage analytics, and crash/diagnostic logs, to operate and improve the App.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate your logins.
• Provide the App's core features — zone communities, messaging, listings, events, and services.
• Assign you to the appropriate zone and show you relevant local content.
• Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Analyse usage to fix problems and improve the App.
• Communicate with you about your account or important changes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We use trusted third-party service providers who process data on our behalf to operate the App:

• MSG91 — to deliver SMS one-time passwords to your phone number.
• Cloudinary — to store and serve images you upload.
• MongoDB Atlas — to securely store your account and app data.
• Railway — to host our backend services.
• PostHog — to analyse in-app usage so we can improve the App.
• Sentry — to capture crash and error reports for stability.

Content you choose to post (such as community posts, listings, events, or zone chat messages) is visible to other users in your zone or to recipients you message. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the App.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard service providers, with access controls and protective measures in place. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your associated personal data, except where we are required to retain certain information for legal, security, or legitimate operational reasons.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and update — you can view and edit your profile information within the App.
• Account deletion — you can delete your account directly from within the App at any time, which removes your personal data as described above.
• Notification preferences — you can control push notification categories in the App's settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Mohalla is not intended for and is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
